Ping monitoring checks whether a host is reachable at the network level. When you add a site, DownCTL runs an initial ICMP check and keeps ping monitoring enabled only when the host responds.
What if a site blocks ICMP?
If the initial check confirms that the host does not respond, DownCTL turns ping monitoring off automatically. You can enable it later from the site's Monitors tab, and later failures do not change that setting.
